Call of Duty 4 Level 55 in 5 minutes or less!

January 25th, 2008

Call of Duty 4 is a very addicting and fun game.

What’s even more fun is that you can get to level 55 with all unlocks and challenges completed by downloading an mpdata file, changing your CD key, replacing mpdata file, and changing your CD key back to the original. This is helpful for people who just got the game, as its very easy to level up so most players are already level 55. This is to give you that extra edge over other n00bz.

I tried this when it first came out, and its still working for me. It’s worth a shot.

I sure hope you know how to use Google’s “search” function. Here’s a link to start you off, and you should be good to go after a bit of digging.

Here’s the product page from Intermorphic, and here’s a video of it in action, running through Absynth and Nord Modular. Warning: video is So Very Cool, you will find yourself needing moar Noatikl.

School firewalls part 2: TOR the Onion Router

November 21st, 2007

The atrociously slow TOR network. It is comparable to a proxy.

The easiest way to use it would be to download a portable version of Firefox which supports TOR.

My favourites are Torpark and xB Browser. Schools usually don’t block download.com so I’ll assume it’s unblocked where you are. If it is blocked, just download it from home and send it via email.

After downloading, run the file and choose which directory to extract to. After extraction browse to the folder and run the executable. Searching for a TOR network will be a while. If you get an error message, be sure to click “continue searching”.  After a network is found, you’ll see the familiar Firefox introduced. There are a few addons, notably NoScript, which blocks all scripts and uses a whitelist (so if a site doesn’t work be sure to click on the info bar at the bottom and allow scripts).

Browsing will not be full speed, but should be usable. If it is really slow check Noscript settings, or restart and find a faster network.

Bypassing school firewalls: Url-to-IP Converter

October 13th, 2007

When you’re in your school computer class, have you ever needed to access a website, only to find it was blocked? Fear not, there are many solutions around this.

It depends on how your school filters web content. Many school boards only filter the main domain name, not the IP address. I’m not tech savvy; I don’t know how to figure out which methods are being used. Here’s a simple trick that’s worth a try:

Find yourself a URL to IP converter, like the one at Freelabs. Next, it is pretty straight forward: enter the domain name, ‘get IP info’, copy-paste IP to address bar, hit enter.

This doesn’t work for everyone, nor all websites, but it works for YouTube at my school.

Next, I’ll show you another way of getting around filters.

Phil Collins and a drumming Gorilla

October 8th, 2007

Here’s a very nifty advert from a Glass and a Half Full Productions. Can it get any better than Cadbury chocolate and a gorilla drumming to Phil Collins?

Scots: “um” for understanding

September 25th, 2007

Scottish academics have found that disfluences in speech significantly enhance an audience’s understanding. Such errors force us to ‘tune in’ and remember more of what is being said.

Personally, I find people who incessantly “um and er” very annoying.
