The atrociously slow TOR network. It is comparable to a proxy.
The easiest way to use it would be to download a portable version of Firefox which supports TOR.
My favourites are Torpark and xB Browser. Schools usually don’t block download.com so I’ll assume it’s unblocked where you are. If it is blocked, just download it from home and send it via email.
After downloading, run the file and choose which directory to extract to. After extraction browse to the folder and run the executable. Searching for a TOR network will be a while. If you get an error message, be sure to click “continue searching”. After a network is found, you’ll see the familiar Firefox introduced. There are a few addons, notably NoScript, which blocks all scripts and uses a whitelist (so if a site doesn’t work be sure to click on the info bar at the bottom and allow scripts).
Browsing will not be full speed, but should be usable. If it is really slow check Noscript settings, or restart and find a faster network.
